Sam Hammond and Amy Brown from Bartec Auto ID met with Sophie L at Westgate Tyres recently to see how the team had been getting on with some of our TPMS Tools. In this case it was the TAP100. Sophie stated "Yesterday I got to try the TAP100 from Bartec Auto ID and I FELL IN LOVE. From a Road Safety perspective this piece of kit is small but creates such an impact. It is quick and easy to use and it's seriously going to come in handy when I visit events and check the condition of a vehicle's tyres. A quick pressure check, a quick tread check and it can all be emailed to your customer/visitor." Sophie went on to state "This is definitely something I will recommend for anyone carrying out vehicle checks or fleet checks and so on."

It was early August 1998 that Bartec first got the call to design and supply the first TPMS antenna system for Renault Motors in Sandouville, France. The successful delivery of that system led to orders for eight additional Renault plants and further orders for Ford, GM and Chrysler in North America as TPMS was introduced there and eventually legislated. Since then, the company has installed over 220 plant systems worldwide.
In 2005 Bartec USA was formed to support customers in North America and supply TPMS repair tools to the growing number of aftermarket customers. Roll forward to today and the company has supplied over 210,000 TPMS tyre shop tools to North America and over 35,000 into Europe.
These advanced tools diagnose TPMS faults, enable repairs and turn off the warning light. The tools are able to receive software and coverage updates over WiFi again enabling the technician to repair even the latest vehicles. Bartec OE customers include Ford, Chrysler, GM, Mitsubishi, Renault, Volvo, Nissan, Subaru, Isuzu, Land Rover, Jaguar, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Kia, BMW, Mercedes and wheel manufacturers and assemblers across the world.
A past winner of the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise, the company has continued to innovate and for the past five years has focused on aftermarket emissions systems. It recently launched its new Particle Counter for measuring tailpipe carbon particle emissions and is already supplying into the Swiss and German markets to meet the new EU legislation there.
So, 25 years on Bartec Auto ID Group continues to innovate to maintain its leadership across all of its automotive applications. For more information visit www.bartecautoid.com or call 07823 355276 to speak to our Sales team.

Bartec Auto ID, the Market Leader in TPMS Tools and sensors announces RITE-SENSOR BLUE®!
RITE-SENSOR BLUE® is the latest innovation from Bartec designed to satisfy an emerging need in TPMS Service. A Bluetooth TPMS Replacement Sensor, for Electric Vehicles like Tesla, RITE-SENSOR BLUE® is fast and easy to use.
Simply test for a faulty sensor with a Bartec TPMS Tool, install the Rite- Sensor Blue® and then drive the vehicle. The resulting repair saves both time and money for the technician and customer.
RITE-SENSOR BLUE® is suitable for Tesla Models S, 3, X and Y, right out of the box. The Bartec Next Generation TPMS tools TECH600 and TECH450 activate and decode the OE fitted sensor to diagnose a fault such as low battery in the sensor. Making vehicle diagnosis accurate and fast. If one of the OE sensors fail due to low battery, then there is a chance that the other sensors on the car will also fail having experienced the same duty cycle. The tools will diagnose this for the technician and enable the repair of multiple sensors at one visit if required. And, keeping up with demand the RITE-SENSOR BLUE® has three stem options to meet the various wheel colours. The standard Silver, Black anodised and Graphite are offered.
Managing Director, Colin Webb, said "The Rite-Sensor Blue® and the associated tool diagnostics are the latest example of how Bartec are out in front of the TPMS market with solutions. Tesla led the way with this technology, but several other OEs are planning to fit Bluetooth sensors and we look forward to supporting our Tyre shop and Repair shop customers with effective tools and sensors ahead of the market.

Following the most recent advice from the Government, Bartec Auto ID have consulted with staff and have made provisions for them to work from home where possible for the foreseeable future. We have been preparing for this for some time and expect minimal disruption to our day-to-day operations as a result of the changes. Keeping our team safe and healthy is our highest priority and by rigorously following advice we aim to minimise the effects of Coronavirus on our team, and by implication on our customers and partners.
We will work with our partners to find appropriate ways to continue working whilst minimising risks. However, for the foreseeable future our aim is to avoid travel and direct contact wherever it is practical to do so. By working together we hope to be able to contribute to slowing down the spread of the virus and in doing so reduce the impact on all our operations.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

We now support TPMS sensor reading on BMW and KTM motorbikes. Unfortunately we have had to drop support for the Cub sensor, although support for the UK i-sensor remains. The relearn for Mitsubishi has been improved, with the tool now giving audible feedback when the pressure has been reduced enough. This now works with the Outlander and most other Mitsubishi, although the i-MiEV is not supported.

"I am very excited about the upcoming six months and pleased to be a part of the Bartec family. I am sure to gain a lot of new knowledge and improve my skills, when supported by such great colleagues. I am looking forward to help with projects and bring in new perspectives. Besides working at a brilliant company, I am pleased to get to know more about the British culture and the English people; or as my French grandfather would call them: the Roast Beefs."
The recent cold spell provided a reminder that we are still in the winter season with parts of Europe using winter or all season tyres. Very cold arctic temperatures can impact the performance of a TPMS sensor leading to the warning light being triggered. Temperature fluctuations impact on tyre pressure and in an automobile with TPMS the vehicle is constantly monitoring tyre pressures. For each 10°F of temperature increase or decrease tyre pressures will change approximately 2% (1 psi). In a year of season changes temperatures could see ranges of 80ºF (27ºC) to 20ºF (-7ºC) leading to a difference of around 5 psi which could lead to a an illuminated TPMS warning light.
In a recent technical service bulletin (TSB) relating to cold temperatures and TPMS sensor air pressure readings Hyundai "Recommend that the customer check and adjust all tyre pressures, including the spare tyre, once a month. recommended that customers check and adjust tire pressures once a month."
We have recently launched a series of user guide “how to” video presentations covering the core functionality of using our TPMS Tools. In the presentations we offer a close up view of the TECH500 and the user interface showing the command buttons and the screen display. A tutorial narrative is also presented allowing for a step by step approach to the following tasks: Programming Sensors, Relearn Functions, OBD Diagnostics and Toolkit Functions.

Bartec Auto ID Limited (Bartec), the British manufacturer and global market leader in tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), is delighted to announce the appointment of David Jones as its new UK and Ireland Salesperson.
David brings a wealth of diagnostic experience to the Barnsley-based, family-run company, following established roles with Nebula Systems and Euro Car Parts, and he joins the TPMS experts at a crucial time, as this year marks the first when vehicles, due their first MOT test, will be entering workshops with TPMS installed as mandatory. Legislation passed in 2014 stipulated that TPMS would be part of the annual MOT test and that all vehicles will have TPMS installed as standard.
On joining Bartec at this pivotal time, he said: “It’s fantastic (to have joined Bartec). The company has welcomed me; the people and facilities are great. I’m excited to get out on the road, start meeting existing and new customers, and, while it’s going to be a challenge, it’s one that I will embrace.”
David claimed the biggest hurdle to overcome is to convince customers that a second, specific TPMS tool is required; however, he is confident, considering figures regarding MOT failures linked to TPMS defects skyrocketed to more than 23,000 vehicles in 2016 - rising by 212% - customers will be eager to learn of this solution, instead of relying on existing equipment that is used to fulfil all diagnostic work and repairs on the vehicle.
“The figures only strengthen our position in being able to offer a market-leading solution to prevent the TPMS warning light from shining on the vehicle’s dashboard. We want customers to view our tools, like the TECH500, as a worthwhile investment.” The TECH500, Bartec’s marquee product, is the only TPMS scan tool in the world that features a combination of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, inductive charging and keyless ignition testing. Dave is confident that meeting customers, illustrating the benefits of second, specific TPMS tools, is an area that he will “thrive in”.
He added: “I enjoy the diversity of meeting customers, whose businesses are based in various locations and are different sizes. At workshop level, there are many excellent technicians, thanks to investment in tools - like Bartec’s - that are geared up to work on modern, demanding vehicles on a day-to-day basis, which I will enjoy meeting.” Bartec Managing Director, Colin Webb, said: “I am delighted to welcome David to Bartec, and I am confident he will be a great asset to the team. This is a crucial time for company, so I am thrilled to appoint someone of David’s calibre and experience.”

Shortly after the R51.5 was released, we already prepared a new Software Update for you. The R51.6 will support the new EU REDI-sensor and is now ready to download on our website.
One was the annual UKAS external audit of our ISO9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS) and no improvements were required. The other audits were performed by multinational automotive manufacturers to whom we supply TPMS products.
Our QMS is managed using an internet cloud-based management system, ProActive, which particularly impressed the auditors. It enables Bartec employees to easily keep track of all quality related activities such as quality improvements, customer feedback, controlled documents, training and equipment calibration.
The company, due to rapid expansion in its worldwide sales of products for Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems, has established a new GmbH registered in Germany and is opening a new office facility, in Wölfersheim, Oberhessen.
The office building size is ca. 650m2 on a site of approximately 2700m2 and it is located in a local business park, easy to reach by train, car or plane via Frankfurt. The offices will be open-plan and bright, in order to create customer-friendly environment. In front of the building there is also a parking area.
The new business will begin operations in October and it will be supported by different departments: a Training Centre including a garage for practical training, which will offer courses about Bartec Auto ID products and the TPMS market in general; a Technical Centre, for maintenance of tools in situ and a Customer Centre, where qualified company staff can answer all your questions. A tool stock area is also planned. The garage will also be used to accelerate testing of new vehicle models in support of sensor manufacturers, in order to maintain our lead in accurate and regular vehicle coverage on Bartec tools. This commitment to Europe’s most dynamic automotive market is designed to further enhance our position in the fast growing European TPMS market fuelled by new EU legislation.

Bartec Auto ID Limited is proud to announce it is now certified as an ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Standard compliant organisation. This has been achieved for the Barnsley-based R&D and manufacturing business.
The company has previously held ISO9001:2008 certification for manufacturing operations through its Oyster subsidiary.
ISO 9001 is a family of standards related to quality management systems and designed to help organizations ensure that they meet the needs of customers, shareholders and employees. The certification of compliance with ISO 9001 recognizes that the policies, practices and procedures of our company ensure consistent quality in the services and work product we provide to our customers.
"As any company that has been through the process knows, achieving ISO 9001 certification is demanding," said Colin Webb, Managing Director of Bartec Auto Id. "Each individual and operation must be dedicated to the pursuit of quality. By scrutinising our organisation at every level, we can assure our customers that we are committed to providing them with superior customer service and the highest quality products."
ISO 9001 certification complements our technology leadership position," continued Colin. " While improving our existing products and finding new applications for our technology.”
ISO 9001 certification not only attests to Bartec's commitment to continuous improvement, but also provides its OEM partners with significant competitive benefits selling into the global marketplace. According to Dunn & Bradstreet, a leading business information service company, 72.3 percent of companies with ISO certification report a major competitive advantage
A recent survey by Fusion Research reported that 51 percent of fleets questioned had improved their fuel efficiency in 2013 over previous years. The study was part of the Texaco Truck Research Report, supported by Chevron Lubricants and Continental A.G., and was presented during a recent Conti media briefing.
As part of the research of more than 500 operators across the United Kingdom, respondents were asked specifically how they felt tires and tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) affected their fuel efficiency. While 42 percent of respondents stated they regularly monitor their tire pressures, this is a relatively low number when factored against a previous question in which 98 percent of those surveyed indicated they were aware of the impact tire pressure can have on a fleet’s fuel consumption.
“It’s good news that the industry understands the importance of consistently monitoring tire pressure,” said Arthur Gregg, commercial sales and marketing director at Continental. “Regular checks ensure that should a problem with the tire occur, it is noticed and can be fixed promptly, avoiding any increase in fuel consumption, damage to the tire or costly delays.” Studies carried out by Continental have shown that more than 90 percent of all tire failures are preceded by slow leaks, causing gradual loss of tire pressure.
This report appeared in European Rubber Journal, a UK-based sister publication of Tire Business.

Laws mandating the installation of tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) in new vehicles are leading to a swift increase in the installed base of this technology in the European Union and the United States. With the proliferation of universal sensors and aggressive efforts to raise consumer awareness, the TPMS aftermarket is set for robust revenue growth, predicts Frost & Sullivan.
In a recent study the market research and analysis company finds that the market earned revenues of over $111.7 million in 2011 and estimates this to reach $386.6 million by 2018.
In 2011, only about 2.3 per cent of vehicles in operation in Europe, or 7.1 million, were equipped with direct TPMS. This installed base is forecast to grow to 36.7 million by 2018.
In the EU, transportation laws require vehicles to have an active TPMS. As sensor batteries typically last for 6 to 10 years, this mandate will drive breakage replacements in the forecast period and end-of-battery-life replacements beyond 2018.
“By 2014, nearly 38 per cent of vehicles in North America will feature TPMS - a 13 per cent increase from 2011 - thus, increasing the addressable market size,” said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Kumar Saha. In Europe, the TPMS installed base, though much lower, is expected to more than double by 2014 due to supportive legislation.
As more European countries, including Belgium, Poland and Turkey, adopt winter tire legislations, TPMS revenues and unit sales will increase in the short and medium term. On the other hand, TPMS direct sensors installation in the U.S. will spike due to battery replacements, malfunctions, and winter tire replacements. Additionally, if the U.S. government mandates functioning TPMS sensors at all times and tightens gas mileage policies, the technology will become a key component in vehicles.
High OE installation rates have also provided manufacturers with the economies of scale they need to reduce prices and offer attractive TPMS replacement packages to consumers.
However, low installer awareness and long battery life have curbed TPMS replacement volumes, particularly in North America. High prices and the proliferation of stock-keeping unit counts for sensors daunt independent distribution and retail channels, further restraining growth.
To stay competitive, suppliers need to put adequate pricing and product placement strategies in place. Offering universal sensors, already introduced in North America by key manufacturers, will reduce inventory burdens on independent retailers.
These figures and conclusions are contained in the study "Strategic Analysis of the North American and European Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems Aftermarket". For more information visit www.automotive.frost.com.

Bartec Auto ID Ltd was formed on June 1st 1992 and remains a private limited company solely owned by its Directors. It is a market leading supplier of Radio Frequency systems, specialising in Tyre Pressure Monitoring Tools and systems for both production plants and aftermarket.
Bartec Auto ID Ltd is the world leader in Tyre Pressure Monitoring Tools and Systems, having installed over 80 plants worldwide and supplied hundreds of thousands of TPMS dealer tools. The company has offices in the US and Europe, manufacturing in Barnsley and Coventry in the UK and Shenzen Province in China and a network of agents and partners throughout the world.
Customers include Ford, Chrysler, GM, Mitsubishi, Renault, Volvo, Nissan, Subaru, Isuzu, Land Rover, Jaguar, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Kia, BMW, Mercedes and wheel manufacturers and assemblers across the world. Our tools are designed to activate and decode all TPMS sensors on the market.
Schrader Electronics, global market leader in TPMS sensors and Bartec Auto ID, world leader in TPMS Tools and Equipment, have entered into a new agreement to develop the EZ-sensor®, programmable TPMS sensor, for the European market. The EZ-sensor® can be programmed using both the Bartec TECH400SDE and the Schrader Exp'Air TPMS Tools to emulate over 90% of TPMS sensors supplied by the European aftermarket.
The advantages over other sensors are clear:
Bartec also provides the TPMS PAD, a universal test and programming station for programmable TPMS sensors such as the Schrader EZ-sensor®. The TPMS PAD can be used to test the broken sensor and extract its unique ID code, which can then be copied into a blank EZ-sensor®. In this way mechanically broken sensors can be replaced or complete sets of replacement tyres (for instance winter tyres) can be quickly and easily created.
Both firms are also present at the Reifen fair in Essen (5th to 8th June). Come visit us:
